The
moon is rising over the Outeniqua Mountains
- its pale loom soon followed by a golden
sliver that backlights the clouds massed
around the peaks. Slowly the moon climbs
and hangs suspended, throwing the mountains
into sharply carved silhouettes against
the inky blue sky. Moonlight kisses the
long stretch of ocean. A waterbuck steps
delicately from the shadows and grazes quietly
at the edge of the forest. A wood owl hoots
from a tree below and is answered by its
mate. There is a rustle in the undergrowth,
a faint whisper from the wind. |
